Kristopher Joseph Pierre Irwin Letang was born on 24 April 1987 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and played junior hockey with the Val-d'Or Foreurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for three seasons before the Pittsburgh Penguins selected him 62nd overall in the 2005 NHL Draft. Letang won his first Stanley Cup in just his second full NHL season in 2009, developing into one of the league's most dynamic offensive defencemen and becoming an alternate captain for the Penguins.
