Undrafted until the seventh round — 749 career points and a Stanley Cup at 36.
Joseph Pavelski was born in Plover, Wisconsin in 1984. San Jose Sharks selected him 205th overall in the 2003 NHL Draft — the seventh round. His career produced 382 goals and 367 assists for 749 career points. He won the Stanley Cup with the Dallas Stars in 2024 at age 39 — one of the older players to win a first championship. He scored 40 or more goals three times in his career. He was selected to three All-Star games. His combination of goal-scoring efficiency — particularly his deflection ability in front of the net — with defensive commitment and leadership made him one of the most consistent American-born forwards of his generation. He was the Sharks' primary goal-scorer for a decade — producing consistently on teams that competed in multiple Western Conference Finals without winning a championship. He became a Stanley Cup champion at 39, providing one of hockey's more satisfying individual championship stories of recent years.
