American · Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA · Born 26 June 1997Jaron 'Boots' Ennis is an undefeated American boxer who has held the IBF and WBA (Super)/Ring welterweight world titles.
Few welterweights in the sport's contemporary landscape have been as technically gifted — or as persistently avoided — as Jaron Ennis, whose rare ambidextrous ability to switch between orthodox and southpaw stances mid-fight has created preparation problems that leave many potential opponents reluctant to share the ring with him. Ennis, nicknamed "Boots," turned professional and built an outstanding record built almost entirely on knockouts, showcasing his father Bozy Ennis's training alongside a natural feel for distance, timing, and power that set him apart from his contemporaries at 147 pounds. Ennis won the IBF welterweight title, unifying multiple belts as he established himself as one of the most feared operators in one of boxing's most competitive divisions, frequently finding opponents reluctant to face him given his blend of technical skill and punching power. Ennis has continued to campaign at the top level of the welterweight and light middleweight divisions, widely regarded by pundits and fellow fighters as one of the most talented pound-for-pound boxers active today, with many believing his unusual switch-hitting style makes him one of the most complete technicians in the sport.
