Devin Haney

Devin 'The Dream' Haney is an American boxer who became undisputed lightweight champion in 2022.

Devin Miles Haney was born on 17 November 1998 in San Francisco, California, and spent his childhood in Oakland before moving to Las Vegas with his father, Bill, at 14 to focus more intensively on his boxing career. He began boxing at seven, and turned professional in 2019 as one of the most hyped young prospects in the sport, having never competed as an amateur at the Olympic level. Haney, nicknamed "Deebo," developed into one of the most technically skilled lightweights of his generation, and unified all four major world titles at 135 pounds in 2022 by defeating George Kambosos Jr. in Australia, becoming the undisputed lightweight champion. Haney moved up to light welterweight and continued adding to his championship collection before suffering a shocking upset loss to Ryan Garcia in 2024 — a result later overturned to a no-contest after Garcia failed a post-fight drug test — and a subsequent points defeat that further complicated his career trajectory. Haney, a practising Muslim, has continued competing at the top level of the sport's lighter weight divisions, working to rebuild momentum after the setbacks that interrupted what had been one of the most celebrated unbeaten runs in recent boxing history.
