Caleb Plant

Caleb 'Sweethands' Plant is an American super middleweight who held the IBF world title from 2019-2021.

Caleb Hunter Plant was born on 8 July 1992 in Ashland City, Tennessee, and took up boxing at nine years old, going on to win the 2011 National Golden Gloves championship as an amateur before turning professional. Nicknamed "Sweethands" for his smooth, technical style, he developed into one of the most avoided boxers in the super middleweight division. Plant won the vacant IBF super middleweight title in January 2019, defeating José Uzcátegui, and defended it multiple times before facing Mexican superstar Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez in a unification bout in November 2021 for the undisputed championship — a fight Plant lost by knockout, his first professional defeat, in one of the biggest fights of that year. Plant rebuilt his career with wins over Anthony Dirrell and Caleb Truax, and won the interim WBA super middleweight title in 2024, positioning himself for another opportunity at the undisputed championship. His rivalry with fellow contender David Benavidez, which included a heated pre-fight altercation, became one of the most talked-about feuds in the sport. Plant has continued to compete at world level in the super middleweight division, renowned for his boxing IQ, precise counter-punching, and willingness to face the toughest available opposition in one of boxing's most competitive weight classes.
