Hugo Keenan

Hugo Keenan is an Ireland fullback who scored the decisive late try that sealed the British & Irish Lions' 2025 series win over Australia.

Hugo Keenan was born on 18 June 1996 in Dublin, Ireland, and attended Blackrock College, where he was part of the team that won the 2014 Leinster Schools Senior Cup, scoring a try in the final. He joined Leinster's academy and made his senior debut against Zebre in 2016 at just 20 years old. Keenan represented Ireland's under-20 side before establishing himself as Leinster's first-choice full-back, and made his senior Ireland debut in 2020, quickly becoming one of the most reliable and consistent players in the national team's back three, renowned for his positional intelligence, high-ball security, and understated but highly effective attacking contribution. Keenan was a key figure in Ireland's Grand Slam-winning campaigns and rise to the top of world rugby rankings during the early 2020s, and was selected for the British and Irish Lions' 2025 tour of Australia, cementing his status as one of the finest full-backs in the northern hemisphere game.
