Stanley Grant Holloway was born on 19 November 1997 in Chesapeake, Virginia, and was coached from a young age by his father, Stan, alongside his older brother Trey, at the Track 757 club, before starring at Grassfield High School in both hurdles and football. Holloway chose the University of Florida over a football scholarship at Georgia, and developed into one of the most versatile hurdlers in NCAA history, winning multiple national titles while also competing in the long jump and relays. Holloway, nicknamed "the Flamingo," won the world title in the 110m hurdles at the 2019, 2022, and 2023 World Championships, and took Olympic silver at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Games, narrowly losing to Jamaica's Hansle Parchment. Holloway holds the world indoor record in the 60m hurdles and has not lost an indoor sprint hurdles race since 2014, becoming a three-time world indoor champion in the event and remaining one of the most dominant hurdlers of his generation.
