800m world record holder, back-to-back Olympic champion.

David Lekuta Rudisha was born on 17 December 1988 in Kilgoris, Narok County, Kenya, and established his running career at St. Francis Kimuron High School before developing into the finest 800m runner the sport has ever seen. Rudisha won the world title in the 800m at both the 2011 and 2015 World Championships, and delivered the defining performance of his career at the 2012 London Olympics, winning gold in a world record time of 1:40.91, becoming the first and, to date, only person ever to run the distance in under 1 minute 41 seconds. Rudisha defended his Olympic title at the 2016 Rio Games, becoming only the third man in history to win consecutive Olympic 800m titles, and holds the three fastest times ever recorded in the event, each of them a world record when set. Rudisha retired from professional competition having won two Diamond League titles and remained the dominant figure in his event for the better part of a decade, and continues to be widely regarded as the greatest 800m runner in the history of track and field.
