Daniel Dubois was born on 6 September 1997 in Greenwich, south London, England, and was taken to a boxing gym by his father at nine years old to keep him away from trouble on the streets. He became a five-time national junior champion and British amateur champion before turning professional. Dubois, nicknamed "Dynamite" for his formidable punching power, has built a professional record built almost entirely on knockouts, winning the British and Commonwealth heavyweight titles before capturing the WBA heavyweight title in 2022, becoming a world champion at just 24 years old. Dubois suffered a stoppage loss to Oleksandr Usyk in their first meeting in 2023, a fight in which he was controversially denied a knockdown for a blow ruled to have landed low, before a significant career turnaround saw him win the IBF heavyweight title in 2024, defeating Filip Hrgović. Dubois faced Usyk again in a rematch for the undisputed heavyweight championship in July 2025, suffering a fifth-round knockout defeat, before winning the WBO heavyweight title in May 2026.
