Chantelle Cameron was born on 14 May 1991 in Northampton, England, and developed a love of combat sports as a child watching Jean-Claude Van Damme films and the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, later citing the 1989 film Kickboxer as a particular favourite that sparked her interest in fighting sports. Cameron turned professional and developed into one of the most dominant fighters in the light welterweight division, nicknamed "Il Capo," building an unbeaten record while unifying multiple world titles to become undisputed champion at 140 pounds. Cameron handed Ireland's Katie Taylor the first professional defeat of her career in Dublin in 2023, one of the most significant results in the history of women's boxing given Taylor's previously unblemished record and legendary status in the sport. Taylor avenged the loss in a May 2023 rematch, narrowly defeating Cameron by majority decision to reclaim the undisputed championship. Cameron has continued competing at the top level of women's boxing, adding the WBO female super welterweight title to her collection in 2026, and remains one of the most respected and accomplished fighters to emerge from English women's boxing in the sport's modern era.
