Bahamian basketball player known for his exceptional three-point shooting ability and prolific scoring throughout his NBA career with multiple franchises.

Chavano Rainer "Buddy" Hield was born on 17 December 1992 in Freeport, Bahamas, one of seven children who shared a single small bedroom growing up, sleeping head to foot across one bed. He moved to the United States in 2010, attending Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas, and starred as a middle-distance runner in high school track before focusing fully on basketball. Hield played four seasons at the University of Oklahoma, becoming the Big 12's all-time leading scorer and sweeping nearly every major national player of the year award in 2016, including the Wooden, Naismith, and Oscar Robertson trophies, one of the most decorated college seasons in recent memory. The New Orleans Pelicans selected Hield sixth overall in the 2016 NBA Draft, and he developed into one of the league's most prolific three-point shooters after being traded to the Sacramento Kings, winning the NBA Three-Point Contest in 2020 and becoming just the 17th player in league history to make 2,000 career three-pointers. Hield has played for the Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, and Atlanta Hawks, and was appointed the Bahamas' Ambassador-at-Large for Sports and Cultural Development in 2024, continuing to represent his home country internationally while remaining one of the most respected shooters in the modern NBA.
