Antoine Griezmann won the 2018 World Cup with France — scoring four goals, including the crucial second in the final against Croatia — and claimed the Golden Boot at Euro 2016 as the tournament's best player despite France losing the final, establishing himself as the most consistent performer in French football across three major tournaments. Real Sociedad developed him after he was released by several French clubs for being too small. His five Atlético Madrid seasons produced two Europa League titles and consecutive Champions League Finals — losing to Real Madrid both times (2016 and his greatest escape 2016 before penalties). He won Euro 2016 Golden Boot as player of the tournament despite France losing the final. He won the World Cup with France in 2018 — scoring four goals including the crucial second goal in the final against Croatia. He was awarded UEFA Nations League success with France in 2021. He is France's second-highest all-time goalscorer. His combination of technical precision, off-the-ball movement and composure in major tournaments has made him the most consistent performer for France across three major tournaments. He scored the most goals in Europa League history (11) in a single campaign. His return to Atlético Madrid in 2021 — after a failed Barcelona spell — produced some of his finest individual club performances.
