Angel Reese was born on 6 May 2002 in Randallstown, Maryland, to Angel and Michael Reese, and learned basketball from her mother, developing her competitive edge playing against her older brother Julian in their driveway. She began as a point guard in local recreational leagues before two growth spurts by the start of high school pushed her toward the frontcourt, and she went on to star at Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore.
