Anfernee Tyrik Simons was born on 8 June 1999 in Longwood, Florida, and attended Edgewater High School in Orlando before transferring to Montverde Academy and finishing his prep career with a postgraduate year at IMG Academy in Bradenton, bypassing college entirely to enter the 2018 NBA Draft directly from high school. The Portland Trail Blazers selected Simons 24th overall in 2018, and he spent his rookie season primarily with the team's G League affiliate before developing into one of the league's most explosive perimeter scorers, winning the NBA Slam Dunk Contest in 2021 with a series of highlight-reel dunks.
