Valarie Carolyn Allman was born on 23 February 1995 in Newark, Delaware, and raised in Hershey, Pennsylvania, before her family later settled in Longmont, Colorado, where she graduated from Silver Creek High School in 2013. Allman became a seven-time All-American at Stanford University, graduating in 2017 with a degree in product design, and developed into the dominant force in women's discus throwing over the following decade of international competition. Allman won her first Olympic gold medal at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Games, and defended her Olympic title at the 2024 Paris Games to become a two-time Olympic champion, before adding a world title at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, completing a remarkable sweep of the sport's biggest individual honours. Allman married fellow athlete Kyle Sion in 2026 and has continued to dominate the discus event on the Diamond League circuit, remaining one of the most consistently excellent and reliably record-breaking throwers in the history of women's track and field.
