Trent Williams was born on 19 July 1988 in Longview, Texas, and starred at Longview High School before playing college football at Oklahoma, earning consensus All-American honours in 2009. The Washington Redskins selected Williams fourth overall in the 2010 NFL Draft, and he developed into one of the finest offensive tackles of his generation, though his tenure in Washington was disrupted in 2019 when a cancerous growth on his head, initially downplayed by the team's medical staff, was later determined by private doctors to be life-threatening, leading to a full-season holdout. Williams was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in 2020, and continued his dominance at left tackle, earning three consecutive first-team All-Pro selections between 2021 and 2023 and 12 career Pro Bowl selections in total.
