Terrell Raymonn Suggs was born on 11 October 1982 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was raised in St. Paul, playing youth football alongside future Major League Baseball star Joe Mauer, before moving to Chandler, Arizona, after eighth grade, where he starred at Hamilton High School. Suggs played college football at Arizona State, sweeping the sport's top defensive awards as a sophomore in 2002, including the Bronko Nagurski, Lombardi, and Ted Hendricks Awards, before the Baltimore Ravens selected him tenth overall in the 2003 NFL Draft. Suggs, nicknamed "T-Sizzle," developed into the franchise's all-time leader in sacks, and won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2011 after leading the league in forced fumbles, recovering from a torn Achilles tendon in 2012 to help the Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII that same season. Suggs won a second Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020 after a brief late-career stint away from Baltimore, retiring with an NFL-record 202 career tackles for loss and 139 career sacks, eighth-most in league history, having earned seven Pro Bowl selections across a 17-season career spent primarily with the Ravens.
