Terence Crawford

Terence Crawford is a dominant American boxer who won major titles in five divisions and became a three-time undisputed champion, defeating Canelo Álvarez in 2025.

Terence Allan Crawford was born on 28 September 1987 in Omaha, Nebraska, into a family with a long boxing lineage that included his father, grandfather, and uncles, all amateur fighters. He began boxing at seven, partly as an escape from a difficult household, and compiled an outstanding amateur career of around 70 wins, including three national amateur gold medals. Crawford, nicknamed "Bud," turned professional in March 2008 and developed into one of the most complete and adaptable boxers of his generation, renowned for his ability to switch seamlessly between orthodox and southpaw stances. In August 2017, he stopped Julius Indongo in Lincoln, Nebraska, to become undisputed light welterweight champion, the first at that weight since 2004. Crawford went on to become undisputed champion at welterweight as well, and delivered a career-defining victory in September 2025, moving up three weight divisions to defeat Canelo Álvarez by unanimous decision and become undisputed champion at super middleweight, making him the first male boxer in the four-belt era to become undisputed champion in three different weight classes. Crawford survived being shot in the neck in an off-camera incident years earlier, remarkably driving himself to hospital before returning to the ring within two months. He retired in December 2025 with a perfect professional record of 42 wins and no losses, widely regarded as one of the finest pound-for-pound fighters of his generation.
