Commanding centre-back who partnered Tony Adams at the heart of Arsenal's defence and was a pillar of their success across two managerial eras.

Stephen Andrew Bould was born in Stoke-on-Trent on 16 November 1962. He joined Arsenal from Stoke City in 1988 and formed a formidable centre-back partnership with Tony Adams. A tall, strong and no-nonsense defender, Bould was a key component of the famous back four and Arsenal's defensive excellence. He made 372 appearances for the club, winning three league titles (1989, 1991, 1998), two FA Cups, the League Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1994. He earned 2 England B caps but was never capped at senior level, considered unlucky given his consistency. He later played for Sunderland before retiring. Bould returned to Arsenal as a coach, serving as Arsène Wenger's assistant manager from 2012 to 2018.
