Sarah Klau was born on 30 September 1994 in Adelaide, South Australia, and attended Immanuel College before beginning her senior netball career with the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2016, quickly establishing herself as a promising young defender in the South Australian program. Klau moved to the New South Wales Swifts for the inaugural season of the newly established Suncorp Super Netball league in 2017, impressing immediately on debut and going on to become a consistent presence in the Swifts' defensive backline across nearly a decade with the club, helping the team compete for domestic honours throughout that period. Klau was selected in the Australian Diamonds squad for the 2018/19 international season, capping years of strong domestic form with recognition at the highest level of the sport, and continued to be considered among the deepest pool of defensive talent in Australian netball. Klau has continued to be one of the most reliable defenders in the Suncorp Super Netball competition, renowned for her height and positional discipline at goal keeper and goal defence, remaining a key contributor to the Swifts' sustained success in the league across multiple seasons at the top level of Australian domestic netball.
