Sarah Klau has been one of the NSW Swifts' most reliable defensive figures since joining the club for the inaugural 2017 Super Netball season, earning Australian Diamonds recognition during the 2018/19 international program and contributing to the club's sustained competitiveness across nearly a decade in the competition. Klau moved to the New South Wales Swifts for the inaugural season of the newly established Suncorp Super Netball league in 2017, impressing immediately on debut and going on to become a consistent presence in the Swifts' defensive backline across nearly a decade with the club, helping the team compete for domestic honours throughout that period. Klau was selected in the Australian Diamonds squad for the 2018/19 international season, capping years of strong domestic form with recognition at the highest level of the sport, and continued to be considered among the deepest pool of defensive talent in Australian netball.
