Sabrina Ionescu

Generational WNBA point guard whose elite scoring, playmaking and three-point shooting have made her one of the most dominant players in league history.

Sabrina Ionescu was born in Walnut Creek, California, to Romanian immigrant parents, and starred at Miramonte High School before playing four seasons at the University of Oregon, where she became the first Division I player, of either gender, to reach 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 1,000 assists in a career. The New York Liberty selected Ionescu first overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft, and though a season-ending ankle injury limited her rookie year, she developed into one of the league's most prolific three-point shooters and playmakers, renowned for her deep shooting range and competitive intensity inherited from her college dominance. Ionescu helped the New York Liberty win the franchise's first WNBA championship in 2024, and set the WNBA single-game three-point record, becoming one of the league's most marketable and popular young stars. She has also competed in the NBA's Three-Point Contest against male players during All-Star Weekend, showcasing her shooting prowess on a mixed-gender stage. Ionescu has continued to be one of the league's most dynamic guards, representing the United States internationally and remaining a driving force behind the WNBA's surging popularity throughout the mid-2020s.
