Rebecca Bulley, also known by her maiden name Strachan, was born on 18 August 1982 in Pyramid Hill, Victoria, Australia, and attended Bendigo Senior Secondary College, the brother of fellow athlete Kieran Strachan. She began her senior career with local clubs Calivil United and Sandhurst before earning selection to the Australian Institute of Sport. Bulley made her senior debut for the Melbourne Kestrels in 2000, and went on to play for the New South Wales Swifts, Adelaide Thunderbirds, Queensland Firebirds, and Giants Netball across a career spanning nearly two decades, renowned for her defensive versatility across goal defence, goal keeper, and wing defence. Bulley represented Australia between 2008 and 2015, making 42 senior appearances and helping the national team win gold at the 2015 Netball World Cup and silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. She won three ANZ Championship titles with three different clubs — the 2008 Swifts, the 2013 Thunderbirds, and the 2015 Firebirds — a rare feat of sustained success across multiple franchises. Bulley moved into coaching after retiring, taking charge of the Giants Netball Academy and North Shore United before becoming a coach with the Queensland Firebirds from 2022, continuing her involvement in the sport at the elite domestic level.
