Pat Bradley was born on 24 March 1951 in Westford, Massachusetts, the only daughter among six children of Richard and Kay Bradley, and was an accomplished alpine ski racer as a teenager before focusing fully on golf, winning the New Hampshire Amateur in both 1967 and 1969. Bradley played college golf at Florida International University and turned professional in 1974, joining the LPGA Tour and developing into one of the most consistently excellent players in the sport's history. Bradley won six major championships across her career, including the U.S. Women's Open in 1981 and three du Maurier Classic titles, and became the first player in LPGA history to complete the career Grand Slam of all four major championships, achieving the feat in 1986. Bradley was named LPGA Player of the Year twice, in 1986 and 1991, and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1991, finishing her career with 31 LPGA Tour victories and remaining one of the most decorated American players in the history of women's professional golf.
