Marko Arnautović is Austria's all-time leading appearance-maker and top goalscorer, a well-travelled striker who has played across five countries including a two-time spell at Inter Milan.
Marko Arnautović is Austria's all-time record holder in both international appearances and goals, a distinction he built across a club career that ranged from Inter Milan to West Ham to Shanghai SIPG and back to Serie A, winning the Austrian Footballer of the Year award in 2018. He impressed enough in the Netherlands to earn a loan move to Inter Milan under José Mourinho in 2009, though injury limited him to just three appearances, before he joined Werder Bremen in Germany the following year and established himself as a regular first-team player. Arnautović moved to England in 2013, spending four seasons at Stoke City, before a £20 million transfer to West Ham United in 2017 brought some of the best form of his career, winning the club's Hammer of the Year award in his debut season and being named Austrian Footballer of the Year in 2018. He then took a lucrative move to Shanghai SIPG in China in 2019, before returning to Europe with Bologna in 2021, where he scored 24 goals across two seasons. Arnautović rejoined Inter Milan on loan in 2023, over a decade after his first spell at the club, before signing permanently and later moving to Red Star Belgrade in 2025. Capped by Austria since 2008, he has become the country's all-time leader in both appearances and goals, helping Austria qualify for three European Championships (2016, 2020, 2024), and remained a key figure for the national team well into his late thirties.
