Creative and technically gifted Brazilian midfielder whose elegant style and big-game performances have made him one of the world's most exciting players.
Lucas Tolentino Coelho de Lima, known as Lucas Paquetá, was born in Rio de Janeiro on 27 August 1997. An elegant, technically brilliant central midfielder with exceptional dribbling, balance and a keen eye for the creative pass, Paquetá emerged at Flamengo before AC Milan signed him for £35m in 2018. After mixed success in Italy he joined Lyon in France, where his form attracted Premier League attention. West Ham paid £51m for him in 2022. Despite interest from Manchester City and uncertainty over contract disputes, Paquetá remained at West Ham. Internationally, he has been a key figure for Brazil, earning over 50 caps and appearing at the 2022 World Cup. His ability to receive in tight spaces, carry the ball and deliver in big moments defines his game. He is regarded as one of the most naturally gifted Brazilian midfielders of his generation.
