Kate Moloney was born on 8 January 1993 in Australia, and attended Catholic Ladies College in Eltham before studying at the Australian Catholic University. She made her domestic league debut for the Melbourne Vixens in 2013, and was appointed captain of the club four years later, in 2017. Moloney developed into one of the most versatile midcourters in Australian netball, capable of playing centre, wing defence, and wing attack, and made her international debut for the Australian Diamonds in 2017, going on to represent her country on more than 50 occasions. Moloney captained Australia's Fast5 team to victory at the 2017 tournament in Melbourne, and has continued to be a key leadership figure for both the Vixens and the national team, renowned for her tactical intelligence and ability to control the tempo of a match from multiple midcourt positions. Moloney has pursued further education alongside her playing career, completing a Bachelor's degree in Exercise and Health Science before undertaking postgraduate study in sport management, reflecting a long-term interest in the administrative side of the sport she has represented at the highest level.
