João Pedro Cavaco Cancelo was born on 27 May 1994 in Barreiro, Portugal, and began playing football in his hometown before joining Benfica's youth academy in 2007. He progressed through the club's development system, making his first-team debut in 2014, before a loan move to Valencia in Spain became permanent the following year. Cancelo developed into one of the most technically gifted and attacking full-backs in world football during his three years in Spain, and subsequent loan and permanent moves took him to Inter Milan and Juventus, where he won a Serie A title in 2019. His combination of attacking flair, passing range, and defensive versatility on both flanks made him one of the most complete full-backs in the European game.
