Jack Andrew Garry Wilshere was born in Stevenage on 1 January 1992. He became Arsenal's youngest-ever league debutant at 16 and announced himself to the world with a masterclass performance against Barcelona in the Champions League in 2011, aged just 19. His close control, passing ability and courage on the ball drew comparisons with the very best. Injuries plagued his career, limiting him to 197 appearances for Arsenal.
