The most explosive point guard of his generation — a highlight-reel athlete who electrifies every game he plays.
Temetrius Jamel Morant was born in Dalzell, South Carolina in 2000. He developed at Murray State — a mid-major programme in Kentucky — where he became a second-team All-American. Memphis Grizzlies selected him second overall in the 2019 NBA Draft. He won the Rookie of the Year award in 2020. He won the Most Improved Player in 2022. He was selected to three All-Star games. He led the Memphis Grizzlies to the second seed in the Western Conference in 2021-22 and the conference semi-finals. His athleticism — particularly his ability to explode to the rim and finish in traffic through contact — produces some of the most spectacular highlights in the league. He suffered a serious shoulder injury in 2023. He was also suspended twice by the NBA in 2023 for social media incidents involving firearms, missing significant playing time. His natural gifts — acceleration, body control, vision and finishing ability — make him a generational athletic talent when fully healthy and focused.
