Gabriela Sabatini is an Argentine former professional tennis player who won the 1990 US Open, defeating Steffi Graf in the final.

Gabriela Beatriz Sabatini was born on 16 May 1970 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and turned professional in 1982, developing into one of the most graceful and popular players of her generation, renowned for a classic one-handed backhand and elegant playing style that made her a fan favourite worldwide. Sabatini reached the world's top three in both singles and doubles during her career, achieving a career-high singles ranking of world No. 3 in February 1989. She reached the final of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, taking home a silver medal, and won the WTA Finals in both 1988 and 1994. Sabatini's crowning achievement came at the 1990 US Open, where she defeated Steffi Graf in the final to win her only Grand Slam singles title, one of the most celebrated results of her career. She also reached the 1991 Wimbledon final, losing to Germany's Graf once again, and won a Wimbledon doubles title in 1988. Sabatini amassed 27 singles titles and 14 doubles titles across a career that made her one of the most beloved figures in Argentine sport, retiring in 1996. She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2006, and remains one of the most iconic South American players in the history of women's tennis.
