The Tyler Rose — the most powerful running back of his era, pure strength and will.
Earl Campbell was born in Tyler, Texas in 1955. The Oilers selected him first overall in 1978. He won three consecutive NFL MVP awards — the first player since Jim Brown to win consecutive MVPs. His running style — pure power, refusing to be brought down by single tacklers — was among the most physical in NFL history. He rushed for 9,407 career yards. Hip and knee injuries significantly shortened his career. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1991.
