2020 US Open champion and Austria's greatest modern tennis player, now returning from injury.
Dominic Thiem was born on 3 September 1993 in Wiener Neustadt, Austria. He turned professional in 2011 and became renowned for his clay-court excellence, reaching the Roland Garros final three times (2018, 2019, 2020). He also reached the Australian Open final in 2020. His persistence was ultimately rewarded at the 2020 US Open, where he came back from two sets down against Alexander Zverev to claim a historic title — the first man to recover from that deficit in a US Open final. After winning his Slam, Thiem suffered serious wrist injuries that derailed his career significantly, but he has remained determined to return to form.
US Open 2020
He is only the second man in tennis history to recover from two sets down to win a US Open final, doing so against Zverev in 2020.
