Colin Jackson was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1967. He won the World Championship in the 110m hurdles in Stuttgart in 1993 and held the world record at 12.91 seconds — set in Stuttgart — for 11 years, from 1993 until 2004. He is the only British sprinter to have held a flat track world record in the sprint hurdles. He won three European Championship gold medals and four Commonwealth Games gold medals. He reached the Olympic final in Seoul 1988 and Barcelona 1992. He became one of Britain's most prominent athletics broadcasters and ambassadors after retirement, working for the BBC across multiple Olympic cycles. He was appointed CBE in 2003.
