Alec Jacoby "Coby" White was born on 16 February 2000 in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and attended Greenfield School in Wilson, North Carolina, finishing his prep career as the state's all-time leading scorer while being named North Carolina Mr. Basketball and a McDonald's All-American in 2018. White played one season at the University of North Carolina, earning second-team All-ACC honours before declaring for the 2019 NBA Draft, where the Chicago Bulls selected him seventh overall. White was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team, and developed over several seasons in Chicago into an explosive scoring guard capable of both playing on and off the ball, delivering some of his best statistical seasons as the Bulls transitioned through a rebuilding period. White moved to the Charlotte Hornets in 2026, continuing his career as one of the most dynamic scoring guards to emerge from North Carolina's deep high school basketball talent pool, having spent his first seven professional seasons entirely with the Bulls.
