Chet Holmgren

American professional basketball player known for his unique combination of size, shooting ability, and defensive versatility as a center/forward.

Holmgren missed his entire rookie season with a foot injury after Oklahoma City selected him second overall in 2022, returned in 2023 combining elite shot-blocking with perimeter shooting to justify the top-two billing, and won an NBA championship with the Thunder in 2025 — a delayed debut that delivered exactly what the draft position had promised.. Chet began attending Minnehaha Academy in sixth grade, developing into one of the most unique prospects in recent basketball history, combining a 7-foot-1 frame with genuine perimeter skill. Holmgren was named national high school player of the year in 2021, before playing one season at Gonzaga University, where he was named WCC Defensive Player of the Year and a consensus second-team All-American. The Oklahoma City Thunder selected Holmgren second overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, though a foot injury forced him to miss his entire rookie season before he made his long-awaited debut in 2023, quickly justifying the hype with elite shot-blocking and stretch shooting. Holmgren won an NBA championship with the Thunder in 2025, earning his first All-Star selection and All-NBA and All-Defensive First Team honours in 2026, developing into one of the most singular defensive and offensive talents at his position in the modern league.
