The youngest world number one in ATP history — the Wimbledon champion at 20 who may become the greatest ever.

Carlos Alcaraz Garfia was born in El Palmar, Murcia, Spain in 2003. He became the youngest player in ATP history to reach world number one, achieving the ranking at 19 years and 4 months in September 2022 after winning the US Open. He has since won four Grand Slam titles across three different surfaces — the US Open (2022), Wimbledon (2023 and 2024) and the French Open (2024) — before his 22nd birthday. His Wimbledon victory in 2024, defeating Novak Djokovic in the final, made him the first player since Rod Laver to win French Open and Wimbledon in the same calendar year. His combination of physical attributes — explosive speed, strength and excellent serve — with technical quality and the competitive mentality instilled by coach Juan Carlos Ferrero makes him the most complete young player the game has produced. He is mentored by Rafael Nadal and coached by Ferrero, who was himself a world number one. He is the most likely player to challenge Djokovic's Grand Slam record.
