The King of the Superbikes — four World Superbike Championships and the most popular motorcycle racer Britain has ever produced.

Carl George Fogarty was born on 1 July 1965 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, the son of former motorcycle racer George Fogarty, and progressed through road racing before making his mark on the Isle of Man TT circuit in the mid-1980s. Fogarty, nicknamed "Foggy," moved into the Superbike World Championship and became one of the most successful riders in its history, winning four titles — in 1994, 1995, 1998, and 1999 — the latter two coming with the factory Ducati team during its first year of competition. He retired with 59 race wins, the fourth-highest total in the championship's history. Fogarty was renowned for his aggressive, high corner-speed riding style and fierce competitiveness, particularly excelling at the Assen circuit, where he won every race but one between 1995 and 1999. Fogarty's career ended in 2000 following a crash at Phillip Island in which he collided with a privateer rider, sustaining a serious shoulder injury from which he never fully recovered. He was named an FIM Legend in 2011, and remains one of the most celebrated British motorcycle racers in history.
