The all-time sack leader — Bruce Smith's 200 career sacks is the NFL record, achieved across 19 seasons with the Bills and Redskins.
Bruce Smith was born in Norfolk, Virginia in 1963. Buffalo Bills selected him first overall in the 1985 NFL Draft from Virginia Tech. His 19-season career produced 200 career sacks — the NFL all-time record. He appeared in four Super Bowls with the Bills and was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year twice (1990, 1996). He was selected to 11 Pro Bowls and recorded at least 10 sacks in a season 12 times. He is the only player in NFL history to record 200 career sacks. He was named to the NFL 75th and 100th Anniversary All-Time Teams and inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
4x Super Bowl appearance
His record of 200 career sacks is the NFL's most unassailable defensive record — no active player is remotely close to challenging it.
