Walker Anthony Buehler was born on July 28, 1994, in Lexington, Kentucky, and starred at Henry Clay High School, where his jersey was later retired. Though drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 14th round in 2012, he instead attended Vanderbilt University, helping the Commodores win the 2014 College World Series championship before the Los Angeles Dodgers selected him 24th overall in the 2015 draft.
