Tobin Powell Heath was born on May 29, 1988, in Morristown, New Jersey, to parents Jeff and Cindy Heath, and grew up in nearby Basking Ridge. She starred at the University of North Carolina, helping the Tar Heels compete for national championships before beginning a professional career defined by rare technical skill and creativity on the ball, often described as among the most gifted dribblers American soccer has produced. Heath became a core member of the U.S. women's national team, helping the United States win Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012 and the World Cup in 2019, forming part of a talented generation of American attacking players.
