Te Paea Selby-Rickit was born on 14 January 1992 in Ōtaki, New Zealand, into a netball family — her sister Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit was also a Silver Fern, and their father Hud Rickit represented New Zealand in rugby league. A tall, accurate shooter, she came through the Southern Steel system and made her Silver Ferns debut in 2016, memorably discovering her selection via a congratulatory letter left on her bed during a training camp. Selby-Rickit was part of the Silver Ferns squad that won the 2019 Netball World Cup, and has gone on to represent New Zealand at two Commonwealth Games (2018 and 2022) and a second World Cup in 2023. Domestically she won back-to-back ANZ Premiership titles with the Southern Steel in 2017 and 2018 before moving to the Mainland Tactix in 2019, where she played a leading role in the club's maiden Premiership title in 2025. In 2026 she signed with Australia's Queensland Firebirds.
