Three Super League championships and the crafty architect of St Helens' greatest era.
Sean Long was born in Wigan, Lancashire in 1978. He won three Super League championships and three Challenge Cups with St Helens. He won the Lance Todd Trophy — awarded to the man of the match in the Challenge Cup Final — twice. He was the most creative half-back in Super League for most of the 2000s. He was fined by the RFL for betting on the opposition to win a match he was about to play in — one of the most significant individual gambling controversies in rugby league. He played for several clubs in his career but St Helens was where he achieved his greatest success.
Super League 3x (St Helens)
He was the first player to win the Man of Steel award twice — testimony to his consistent excellence at the highest level.
