Scott Glenn May was born in Sandusky, Ohio in 1954. He attended Indiana University under coach Bob Knight and was the centerpiece of the only undefeated national championship team in modern college basketball history — the 1975-76 Indiana Hoosiers who went 32-0. He won the Naismith Award as national player of the year in 1976 and was a consensus All-American. He won Olympic gold with the USA at Montreal 1976. He averaged 19.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game across his career. His combination of scoring versatility, competitive intensity and unselfishness within Knight's demanding team-first system made him the ideal player for the system — talented enough to win individual awards while subordinating everything to winning. Chicago Bulls selected him second overall in the 1976 NBA Draft. His professional career was hindered by a broken arm suffered near the end of his senior college season and a series of subsequent injuries.
