Republic of Ireland's all-time leading scorer and one of the most consistent strikers to have played in the Premier League.

Robbie Keane was born in Tallaght, Dublin in 1980 and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers from school (1997–1999). A nomadic career followed — Coventry (1999–2000), Inter Milan (2000–01), Leeds United (2001–02) — before Tottenham became his main club across two spells (2002–2009, 2009–2011) scoring 122 goals in 306 appearances. He earned 146 Republic of Ireland caps scoring 68 goals — a record that will likely stand for decades. His top speed of 31.9 km/h and 10.4 km per game reflected a mobile, clever striker. He scored 399 career goals and provided 224 assists in 938 appearances across 12 clubs. His LA Galaxy spell (2011–16) produced 3 MLS Cups and 104 goals in 170 appearances. He won 10 major trophies overall. His trademark somersault-and-gun celebration made him one of the most recognisable figures in Irish football. He appeared at the 2002 World Cup — memorably left out of the squad by Mick McCarthy after Roy Keane's famous Saipan departure controversy. He retired in 2018 and has been involved in coaching.
