Former Greco-Roman wrestler who became a legendary two-division UFC champion across a 14-year MMA career.

Randall Duane Couture was born on 22 June 1963 in Everett, Washington, and won a state wrestling championship at Lynnwood High School before serving in the U.S. Army from 1982 to 1988, where he continued wrestling and was named a four-time U.S. Olympic team alternate in Greco-Roman wrestling. He later wrestled at Oklahoma State University, earning three All-American honours. Couture made his mixed martial arts debut at UFC 13 in 1997 on just three weeks' notice, and developed into one of the most respected champions in the sport's history, becoming the only fighter to win championships in two different UFC divisions on multiple occasions, claiming the heavyweight title three times and the light heavyweight title twice. Couture, nicknamed "The Natural," became the only fighter to win a UFC championship after being inducted into the promotion's Hall of Fame, and remains the oldest champion in UFC history, winning the heavyweight title at 45 years old in 2007. Couture is widely credited, alongside Chuck Liddell, with helping bring mixed martial arts into mainstream American sports culture, and has pursued an extensive acting career since retiring, including a starring role in The Expendables film franchise.
