German Formula One racing driver known for holding the record for most F1 race starts without a win, competing for teams including Force India and Renault.

Nicolas Hülkenberg was born on 19 August 1987 in Emmerich am Rhein, West Germany, where his father, Klaus Dieter, owns a logistics and shipping company, and began competitive kart racing at ten, winning several national titles before progressing to junior single-seater formulae in 2005. Hülkenberg won championships in Formula BMW ADAC, the F3 Euro Series, and the GP2 Series in his rookie season in each category, joining an elite group of drivers, including Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, to win the GP2 or Formula 2 title in their debut year. He made his Formula One debut in 2010. Hülkenberg won the 24 Hours of Le Mans outright on his first attempt in 2015, driving for Porsche, one of the most respected achievements of his career, even as his Formula One results remained hampered by a series of midfield teams throughout the following decade. Hülkenberg held the unwanted record for most Formula One starts without a podium finish before finally breaking the drought with a remarkable third-place finish at the 2025 British Grand Prix, having started 19th on the grid. He moved to the Audi factory team for the 2026 season, continuing a career defined by resilience and consistently exceeding the machinery available to him.
