Marián Gáborík is a Slovak former NHL forward and Stanley Cup champion who became the Minnesota Wild's all-time leading goal scorer after being the highest-drafted Slovak player in NHL history.
Marian Gáborík led the 2014 NHL playoffs with 14 goals in 26 games as the Los Angeles Kings overcame three series deficits to win the Stanley Cup, capping a career in which he had already become Minnesota's all-time leading goal scorer and earned three NHL All-Star selections. He scored the franchise's first-ever regular-season goal, and went on to become the Wild's all-time leading goal scorer over eight seasons, still holding the record with 219 goals and 437 points for the franchise. Gáborík signed with the New York Rangers as a free agent in 2009, and continued his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Los Angeles Kings, and Ottawa Senators. A dynamic, playmaking forward, he was selected to three NHL All-Star Games (2003, 2008, 2012), winning All-Star Game MVP honours in 2012, and recorded seven 30-goal seasons over his career, including three 40-goal campaigns. Gáborík's crowning achievement came in the 2013-14 season, when, acquired by the Los Angeles Kings at the trade deadline, he led the NHL playoffs with 14 goals in 26 games as the Kings overcame three series deficits to win the Stanley Cup. He retired in 2021 with 407 goals and 815 points in 1,035 regular-season games across 17 NHL seasons, ranking fifth among Slovak players in career NHL goals and points. Internationally, he represented Slovakia at two Winter Olympics (2006, 2010) and six IIHF World Championships.
