The most physically imposing centre in rugby league history — four Rugby League World Cups.
Mal Meninga was born in Bundaberg, Queensland in 1960. He won four Rugby League World Cups with Australia. His combination of power — at 6ft 2in, 17 stone — and surprising speed made him the most physically dominant centre in the sport's history. He played for Canberra Raiders and St Helens in his career. He captained Queensland in State of Origin. He became the Queensland Maroons head coach and led them to 11 consecutive State of Origin series victories from 2006 to 2018 — the most dominant run in the competition's history. He was a Queensland government minister after retirement.
