Madison Browne

Australian midcourter known for elite feeding and speed, winning Diamonds honours and multiple domestic awards.

Madison \"Madi\" Browne was born on 5 January 1988 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia, the daughter of Mark Browne, who played Australian rules football for Geelong in the 1970s, and grew up playing for South Barwon Football and Netball Club alongside her younger sister, Kelsey, who also went on to represent Australia in netball. Madison attended Belmont High School before beginning her senior netball career.\n\nBrowne made her domestic league debut with the Melbourne Kestrels in 2006, before being signed by the Melbourne Vixens in 2008 and the West Coast Fever in 2009 and 2010, later returning to the Vixens in 2011. She played under the surname Robinson for part of her career before reverting to her birth name, Browne, and established herself as one of the most dynamic midcourters in Australian netball, renowned for her speed, vision, and elite ball-handling at wing attack and centre.\n\nBrowne achieved a historic sweep of Australian netball's top individual honours in 2012, winning the ANZ Championship Player of the Year, International Player of the Year, and the Liz Ellis Diamond in the same season, and repeated the Liz Ellis Diamond win in 2014, when she also helped the Melbourne Vixens win the ANZ Championship title.\n\nBrowne represented the Australian Diamonds for nine years, from 2009 to 2018, winning gold at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and the 2015 Netball World Cup, and later captained both the Vixens and the Diamonds. She became the inaugural captain of the Collingwood Magpies in 2017, overcame a serious ACL injury in 2015, and was later described by her coach as the \"finest midcourter\" in Australian netball history upon her departure from the domestic league in 2020.
