Napoli's beloved local hero, a diminutive winger whose curling goals and passion embodied the spirit of the city.
Lorenzo Insigne was born in Naples, Italy on 4 June 1991. A Neapolitan through and through, he came through Napoli's academy and became one of the club's greatest ever players, making over 400 appearances and scoring 114 goals. His trademark move — cutting inside from the left and curling the ball into the far corner — became known as the 'tiraggiro'. He was captain when Napoli finished runners-up in Serie A and won the Coppa Italia in 2020. He was a key player in Italy's Euro 2020 triumph, scoring a superb goal against Belgium. He earned 53 caps for Italy. He moved to Toronto FC in MLS in 2022.
